this is a collection of the drabbles i wrote and posted for the Stardew Valley Fanfic Writer's Guild's Labor Day drabble challenge on Discord, with an additional two ("sailing on a sunbeam" and "a warm port") that i wrote post-challenge to even out the number of drabbles.

the challenge was to get the drabbles all in at 100 words or less while writing on the four different prompts we got over the course of the weekend. i hit the mark with some of them, and went a little over with others. this was a ton of fun, and i'm happy with the results! it was also great reading everyone else's drabbles and takes on the prompts, as well.

for this Dreamwidth post, i'm throwing them all into the same post, because i'm not looking to fight with even the beta post editor for four posts or eight separate chapters like i did with the crossposts. apologies for any formatting weirdness, in advance.

Lady Swillmart sent a part in from on deaf ears, which is really exciting because it's actually the part of the fic I have the most thoughts/feelings about!

Just because she'll be sedated doesn't necessarily mean the breaks will be painless, though. Her being on a "strong sedative" just means she can't be a hassle to the scientists and doctors overseeing the transfer. [Caroline] quickly tells the doctor as much and he frowns, the expression neatly settling into the curves and valleys of his face.

The rest is cut because it's kind of a long scene and also because my "short DVD commentary" spiraled out of control into a huge thing about Aperture's power structure post-Cave. Also, possible trigger warning for discussion of non-consensual undercurrents. It isn't sexual, but it's still a prominent theme in this specific part.

The second part of this post about Aperture and the Cold War. This one's mainly focused on Cave and Caroline's reactions to all of it. ...Kinda. Basically, it's mostly about Cave and Caroline and Aperture the Cold War.

I love this headcanon. Mainly because it made me have a lot of Aperture feelings. They're below the cut, because not everyone cares about a psycho company and its crazy heads!

So if you read on deaf ears, then you know that I've been having a lot of thoughts about Caroline and her being shoved into a computer. This is something I wrote to sort out all the issues I think she had with the transfer process.

Any input or comments would be very much appreciated! This is the first time I've written/put a huge amount of thought into Caroline, so I'd love to see some other viewpoints.

Possible trigger warning for suicide-ish dealings.
